Each summer, the Richmond Times-Dispatch holds its "Best Of…" competition. you can nominate Uptown Gallery as "Best Art Gallery (to Buy Art)". For the past two years Uptown Gallery has placed second in that category and this year we want to do even better! We'd love to have your vote, but first we have to be nominated! As a response to a Stay-at-Home order from the Governor of Virginia, Uptown closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are glad to announce our reopening beginning June 11, 2020. Our times and dates have changed but we hope to see you soon. Following Virginia Governor's Executive Order Number 63, all visitors are required to wear a face mask until further notice.
Uptown Gallery: First Runner Up for Best Art Gallery to Buy Art in Richmond
It's now official, On October 13th it was announced that Richmond Times Dispatch readers have selected Uptown Gallery as first runner up for best art gallery to buy art in RVA for the second year in a row! Thank you to all who voted for us. We invite you to visit the gallery often to discover what's new and what makes us one of the best galleries in the city for over 25 years.
The winners are announced! At last Friday's opening reception, the winners for "Floral Fantasy" were announced. First place went to "Peonies in a Blue Jar" Ellen Wakefield, second place was given to "White Peonies" Mary Jane Zander, and "Big & Small" Rebecca Crow received third place. Honorable mentions went to "Amaryllis" Faye Henderson, "Two Tulips and a Rose" David Austin and "Tea Things" Betty Drozeski. Congratulations to all!
Whatever Floats Your Boat
Winners for "Whatever Floats YOur Boat" are announced. With award winning judge, Susan Stuller, giving the announcements on June 7, 2019, first place is Waiting for Summer", an acrylic painting by Patrice Reese. Second place is a watercolor painting "Seen Better days" by Kathy Miller, Third place is a leather sculpture by Warren Dorer, "Spiraling Fish"
