Bev Baker is a former English professor who now has time to paint, play tennis, and enjoy life in rural Powhatan County, Virginia. Formerly an oil painter, she is now attracted to the luminosity of watercolors. Rural scenes and dilapidated barns continue to be a source of inspiration; however, watercolor competitions often require more challenging subject matter. As a Virginia Watercolor Society (VWS) signature member, she has exhibited in Alabama and throughout Virginia and attributes most of her painting expertise to lessons with highly esteemed Richmond watercolorist Susan Stiller. Shapes and shadows inspire and challenge this painter to create beautiful and distinctive watercolors.
